NSG Environmental - Opus 4

NSG Environmental

"We had a vision of a space that would be the focal point for all our staff, that would bring the various areas of our business closer together. Opus 4 turned our vision into a reality. We couldn't be happier."

NSG Environmental specialise in the management and delivery of nuclear decommissioning and waste management solutions.

They were looking to carry out a major refurbishment at their headquarters – Scientia House. An unused mezzanine floor was identified as potential for a new dining and social hub, and refurbishment works planned to the existing laboratory, boardroom, change and welfare facilities and the MD’s office. Opus 4 was appointed to produce an initial design and specification and then won a competitive tender process and was awarded the contract.

The scope of works included the dismantling, modification and re-erection of the mezzanine floor, in readiness to creating a new ‘hub’ area – a ‘third space’ which including kitchen, dining, library, meeting and net access zones that would become NSG’s focal point for staff and visitors alike. The project included building jumbo stud walls 8.6m in height and a floating ceiling feature as part of the hub’s ‘industrial’ look. The look was completed with contemporary break-out and canteen furniture, including high back acoustic seating and ‘Giggle’ lounge chairs from Ocee Design and upholstered ‘Zero’ dining chairs from Frovi.

The project has been well received by NSG’s staff and visitors alike, with plans in place for further refurbishment work.
