Opus4 moves to Stalybridge!

Opus4 is relocating to new premises in Stalybridge, following the acquisition of the former Barclays Bank building on Melbourne Street.

After a fiercely competitive tender process comprising of just one highly reputable design and build interior fit-out specialist, the decision was taken to award the contract to Opus4.

A major fast-track strip-out and refurbishment programme has commenced with a move-in date scheduled for 28 July.

The building has many original features, some of which will be retained.  Here is a shot of the first floor timber framed windows, which will be fully stripped down and refurbished.

The project gives Stalybridge historians and residents a great insight into the building’s former use as a bank.  Here you can see the hardened steel bank vault doors in the basement, along with the old, original boiler:

The bank also had two lift shafts, used for transporting money and documents down from the ground floor to the basement.  Sadly, the lifts are surplus to requirements and will be removed to open up much needed space in the new layout.

Andrew Jackson, Marketing Director for Opus4 said: “We’re looking forward to making the move from Hyde to Stalybridge.  We’re aware of the inward investment which has been made and believe the town is experiencing a renaissance.  Relocating to Stalybridge allows us to continue our proud association with Tameside, benefit from the strong rail and motorway links and feel part of a thriving, progressive market town.”

Look out for more site progress reports throughout the course of the refurbishment.
