Project Background and Objectives
Riverhills Health Club & Spa engaged Opus 4 to design and fit out key areas of their facility to enhance the overall client experience. The primary focus was to create a seamless and welcoming journey for guests, starting from the entrance and reception through to the external bathing area.
The goal was to improve the aesthetics and functionality of the space while ensuring the work could be completed without disrupting the club’s operations or inconveniencing its members.
Solutions and Approach
The project involved a comprehensive CAT B design, fit-out, and furniture installation, delivering a modern, functional, and welcoming environment. Key features included:
Entrance and Reception:
- A newly designed entrance and reception foyer to create an inviting first impression.
- Installation of a bespoke reception counter to streamline the check-in process.
Costa-Style Coffee Lounge:
- Transformed the lounge area with bench seating, bistro tables and chairs, and booths to encourage relaxation and socialisation.
- Incorporated slatted acoustic walls and feature lighting to create a stylish yet tranquil atmosphere.
- Added biophilic design elements, such as greenery, to soften the space and improve well-being.
External Areas:
- Enhanced the external bathing area to extend the client journey and create a cohesive experience both indoors and outdoors.
Since completing this phase, Riverhills has re-engaged Opus 4 for additional works, including the refurbishment of changing and shower rooms and the fit-out of treatment rooms.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the key challenges was carrying out the works while ensuring the facility could remain open and fully operational for members. To address this, the team adopted a flexible and collaborative approach, working around the club’s schedule to minimise disruption.

The project was successfully delivered within the 10-week timeframe, resulting in:
- A welcoming and cohesive client journey from entrance to external areas.
