Project Background and Objectives

RWE Staythorpe is a highly operational power station, with the ability to run 24/7 to generate energy for the UK. As our Third project for RWE, following successful fit-outs at Coventry, it started before Humber Gateway, and Grimsby, we were tasked with modernising both the admin and maintenance blocks while ensuring uninterrupted operations.

The existing space was dark and cellular, limiting efficiency and collaboration. The key objectives were to:

Create a brighter, open-plan working environment to enhance productivity.
Upgrade essential welfare facilities, including shower and locker rooms, to support RWE’s shift-based workforce.
Maintain continuous operations by installing a temporary control room for the duration of the project.
Phase the project strategically to minimise disruption across the live site.

Solutions and Approach

To achieve these objectives, we delivered:

Temporary Control Room Installation – Ensuring the central control hub remained operational throughout the works.
Phased Project Delivery – A structured approach across three phases allowed business as usual for RWE’s 24-hour operation.
Open-Plan Office Transformation – Reconfiguring layouts to create brighter, more collaborative spaces.

Enhanced Welfare Facilities – Upgraded shower and locker rooms to improve staff comfort.
New Central Control hub – This will enable remote support to other group power stations

Challenges and Solutions

Installed a temporary control room to ensure uninterrupted monitoring and safety.

Coordinated strict phasing and health & safety measures to manage works in an active industrial setting.

Introduced strategic layout planning and enhanced lighting to maximise efficiency.

The completed refurbishment has transformed RWE’s Grimsby site, providing employees with a much-needed space to relax and connect.
